BPA Free Sippy Cups: Review of the NUK Sippy

The NUK sippy cup is worth our time and attention and mention at this website because it has several critical aspects and benefits that matter to parents – without spending a lot (because we do not agree with spending a lot for anything that will only be used for a short period of development)!

To start with, the perfect toddler sippy cups are simple for a toddler to manipulate, and this NUK one certainly is. No other feature matters more. A preschooler must be able to easily feel at ease with the sippy. This idea may sound rather obvious, but several sippy cups on the market, even the cups without BPA which naturally receive more attention and effort in their design, forget to include this important characteristic. Little, still developing hands must be able to easily move it in every direction without losing the sippy cup.

This is not only a matter of function, it is developmental too – a parent wants their toddler to feel encouraged when using the sippy cup, not exasperated by it.

Also, a top sippy, in particular one without BPA, has to be simple for a parent to clean up. Again, this NUK toddler sippy cup passes that test. It does not have a lot of parts, and it can easily be disassembled and put back together. I personally prefer sippy cups that can go in the dishwasher, but will buy one occasionally that must be hand cleaned if it looks particularly promising. That is a decision you will have to make. You may simply not have the time to bother with toddler sippy cups that are not dishwasher safe. Regardless, this sippy has only a few parts and is easy to wash, both key features of any sippy cup.

Above all, this NUK sippy has, as all ideal sippys should, a bpa-free certification! The whole story about the effects and impacts of BPA probably will not be clear for many years, but in the meantime, it is worth purchasing those cups that are certified to be BPA free. The difference in cost is minimal, and the potential impact on your toddler is – potentially – quite huge!
