We got tired of paying for sippy cups that did not work.
Really tired of it.
So we did some research, tested the few cups we did not already own, and put together a store that features only the products that withstood the toddler test of temper tantrums and teething.

On one of our sister sites – the Perfect Bottle – we recently ran a post about BPA and why it matters to you and to your family. The excerpt below sums it up best:
“BPA – or biphisenol A – is a chemical used to coat plastics to make the plastic material perform better. However, in some studies of animals, large to medium-sized amount of BPA have had a negative and disruptive effect on the hormones and endocrine system of mammals.
Does this mean that any child that used a plastic bottle in the past that contained BPA (which up until 2007, was most baby bottles) is destined to have disorders and problems?

It is important to keep these facts in mind since there are often so many crazy theories and rumors out there about things like this. It *is* important to switch to products that do not contain BPA. It is also important *not* to lose sleep at night if you have older children that used bottles or sippy cups that were not BPA-free.
The BPA-free cups on the market today vary greatly in quality. We have reviewed the Safe Sippy before because it works so very well, but we also like the Take and Toss cups by the First Years and some of the Nuby products. The bottom line is that you have to find the right BPA-free sippy cup that works for you, and stick with it!
The Munchkin sippy cup merits our review and mention at The Perfect Cup since it has many important features and advantages that are vital to concerned parents – without paying a lot (since we do not believe in paying a lot for an item that is in use for a few months)!
Firstly, the ideal sippy cups are easy for a preschooler to carry, and this Munchkin one certainly is. Nothing is more important than this feature. A toddler should be able to easily handle and move the sippy cup. This advice may seem a bit mundane, but lots of sippys out there, even the bpa-free cups which seem to often get a lot more thought and creativity put into their design, don’t always work well in little hands. Small hands have to be able to easily turn it up and down without losing the bpa-free sippy.
This is not only a matter of function, it is developmental as well – a parent wants their preschooler to be encouraged by their use of the sippy cup, not exasperated by it.
In addition, a good sippy cup, especially a bpa-free one, must be easy for a caretaker to clean up. Once more, this Munchkin sippy meets that standard. It does not have a lot of parts, and it can easily be disassembled and reassembled. I personally prefer sippys that can go in the dishwasher, but will purchase one occasionally that must be hand cleaned if it looks particularly promising. That is a personal call every parent will have to make. You may simply not have the time to mess with sippys that are not ok for use in the dishwasher. Regardless, this sippy has only a few parts and is easy to clean, both vital characteristics of any sippy cup.
Above all, this Munchkin sippy cup has, as all ideal sippy cups should, a bpa-free certification! The full story on the the long-term implications of BPA probably will not come out for many years, but in the meantime, it is worth purchasing those cups that do not have any BPA in them. The difference in cost is minimal, and the future impact on your preschooler is – potentially – quite large!
The NUK sippy cup is worth our time and attention and mention at this website because it has several critical aspects and benefits that matter to parents – without spending a lot (because we do not agree with spending a lot for anything that will only be used for a short period of development)!
